The electronic amplification of the camera signal and the identified screen settings allow a bright image and a comfortable anterior as well as posterior segment surgery despite the decrease of the incident light. These observations show the possibility of a major reduction of the endoillumination and they suggest a possible reduction of the risk of phototrauma for the patients, without any discomfort for the surgeon. The surgeons were able to define and record convenient anterior and posterior screen preset modes for future routine use .
It is reasonable to assume the reduced glare might improve the cataract patient comfort under topical anesthesia, although confirming this theory will require further evaluations.
